Plenary Panel – Trilateral Cooperation on Infrastructure Investment in the Luzon Corridor

In April, the leaders of the United States, the Philippines, and Japan announced the intent to develop the Luzon Economic Corridor as the latest economic corridor of the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) and the first demonstration of our commitment to Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) partners as a key deliverable under the PGI IPEF Investment Accelerator. The Luzon Economic Corridor will support connectivity between Subic Bay, Clark, Manila and Batangas in the Philippines.  Together, the United States, the Philippines, and Japan will discuss the vision of the Luzon Economic Corridor and opportunities to accelerate coordinated investments in high-impact infrastructure projects, including rail; ports modernization; clean energy and semiconductor supply chains and deployments; and agribusiness to further connect and drive economic growth in each hub.

In recent times, the global landscape has undergone significant transformations, wherein the intersection of health and economic growth has become increasingly apparent. This has highlighted the need for governments to prioritize investments in health infrastructure, even in a post-COVID society. A holistic approach to health infrastructure development, one that transcends traditional healthcare delivery models to encompass the broader healthcare
ecosystem is needed. As nations strive to build resilient and inclusive societies, strategic investments in health infrastructure and sustainable healthcare systems emerge as corner stones of sustainable development and shared prosperity. In a discussion led by Puru Trivedi, panelists will discuss the why bolstering the healthcare sector and workforce is a pathway to broader economic productivity, and in turn, make society more resilient to economic shock and how partnership with the United States can support mutually beneficial health and economic goals.
