Anderson is the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary\u202ffor International\u202fCommunications and Information Policy in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs.\u202f\u202fIn this capacity, he leads development of international\u202fInternet, data, and privacy policies\u202fand related negotiations with foreign governments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously,\u202fMr. Anderson\u202fwas Director of the Office of Specialized and Technical Agencies in the State Department\u2019s Bureau for International Organization Affairs.\u202f\u202fIn that role, he was responsible for U.S. relations with over\u202f40\u202fspecialized UN agencies, funds and programs,\u202fand was the lead U.S. negotiator of the successful U.S.\u202feffort to reform the Universal Postal Union\u2019s remuneration system for the e-commerce era.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017,\u202fMr. Anderson\u202fwas the State Department Visiting Fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.\u202f\u202fFrom 2014\u202fto\u202f2017, he served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Charg\u00e9\u202fd\u2019affaires\u202fat the U.S. Embassy in Antananarivo, Madagascar, where he helped restore full diplomatic relations after a 2009 coup.\u202f\u202fHe served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan focused mainly on the management of provincial reconstruction teams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Anderson\u202fhas also been posted to Mexico, Germany, Guatemala, Argentina,\u202fand Italy since joining the Foreign Service in 1994.\u202f\u202fHe\u202fis the recipient of numerous State Department superior and meritorious honor awards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Anderson\u202fholds an MS in Applied Economics and a BA in Economics from Marquette University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1320,"template":"","categories":[],"class_list":["post-1163","allspeakers","type-allspeakers","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/indopacificbusinessforum.com\/2021\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/allspeakers\/1163","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/indopacificbusinessforum.com\/2021\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/allspeakers"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/indopacificbusinessforum.com\/2021\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/allspeakers"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/indopacificbusinessforum.com\/2021\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1320"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/indopacificbusinessforum.com\/2021\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1163"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/indopacificbusinessforum.com\/2021\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1163"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
